MILTON ROGOVIN
THE LENS & PEN: PHOTOGRAPHS & POEMS
When he was 87, the renowned social documentary photographer Milton Rogovin was encouraged by his wife, Anne, to sit down and write poems to accompany some of his own photographs. This volume collects 30 of those poems, published for the first time, along with 70 of Milton's striking black-and-white images in a large format on glossy paper, photographs that celebrate poor and working men and women around the world, documenting the conditions in which they labor and live while honoring and preserving their dignity. Included in the book are a personal perspective by Milton's children, a selected chronology of Milton's life, and a bibliography of his works.

"THIS GENIUS! The Cold War took away his small business. He got a camera, decided to record the folks in his home town. He's taught us all a lesson. And with this book, continues to teach us. THIS GENIUS!" --Pete Seeger
"Milton Rogovin is a true American hero--an artist and human being without parallel."--David Isay, MacArthur Fellow and founder of StoryCorps.
